Scope and who we are
These terms govern every booking made through sportscarrentalgermany.com, the website of Sports Car Rental Germany. We act as a single booking point for a network of local rental partners across five German cities, offering self-drive sport, SUV, luxury, convertible, electric, supercar and minivan categories, alongside chauffeur services, wedding transport and delivery to airports. Whenever you enquire, book or collect a car through our site, these terms apply together with the written quote and confirmation issued for that specific rental. Where a local partner applies its own additional conditions for pick-up and return formalities, those apply in addition to this document, not instead of it.
How an enquiry becomes a confirmed booking
No payment is taken on the website. You tell us what you need by filling in our enquiry form or by contacting us by email, phone or WhatsApp, and we reply with a written quote matched to your dates, start and finish location and preferred model. A booking only becomes binding once we confirm it to you in writing, by email or message; sending an enquiry, or receiving a quote, does not by itself reserve a car. If your plans change before that confirmation, let us know and we will send an updated quote.
Prices and what is included
Our fleet of 91 cars spans sport, SUV, luxury, convertible, electric, supercar and minivan categories, with day rates starting at €210. The price shown in your written quote covers the rental of the chosen car for the agreed period, the insurance described in that quote, and the daily mileage allowance set out below. It does not include fuel, tolls, fines, extra kilometres, or optional extras such as chauffeur service, wedding arrangements or airport delivery, unless these are expressly listed in the quote.
Payment and security deposit
Payment terms are set out in your written quote; card payments are not processed through the website itself. At handover, the main driver must present a valid driving licence, a passport or identity card, and a credit card in their own name, and must place a refundable security deposit on that card. Depending on the car, the deposit ranges from €1,500 to €250,000. The deposit is released within 14 days after the car is returned, once we have checked for outstanding fines, tolls or charges.
Your right to cancel or change a booking
Leisure car rentals booked for a fixed pick-up date are services tied to a specific date, so the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply to them under Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU, reflected in Germany in § 312g(2) no. 9 of the Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch. In its place, we offer the following voluntary cancellation policy, which is more generous than the law requires:
- Cancellation more than 7 days before pick-up: free of charge.
- Cancellation between 7 days and 24 hours before pick-up: 30% of the booking value is charged.
- Cancellation within 24 hours of pick-up: 100% of the booking value is charged.
Changes of date, car or location are handled the same way: if we can accommodate the change we will confirm it in writing; if we cannot, the cancellation terms above apply to the original booking.
Cancellation or changes by us
We may need to cancel or amend a confirmed booking because of severe weather, a safety or technical issue affecting the specific car, or another event beyond our reasonable control, including a force majeure event affecting one of our local partners. If this happens, we will notify you as soon as we know, offer a comparable replacement car where one is available, and refund any amount already paid if no suitable alternative can be arranged. We are not liable for further losses arising from such a cancellation.
Driver and licence requirements
Every main driver must be at least 25 years old and hold a driving licence for a minimum of 3 years, for every car in our fleet. A valid driving licence, a passport or identity card and a credit card in the main driver's name are required at handover; holders of a non-EU licence may also need an International Driving Permit. Additional drivers must meet the same age, licence and documentation requirements and must be declared before pick-up.
Handover and return of the car
At handover, we or our local partner inspect the car with you and record its condition, fuel level and mileage; please review this report carefully, as it is the reference point for the return inspection. The car must be returned at the agreed time and place, in the same condition, with all documents and accessories supplied at handover. Late returns without prior written approval may be charged for the extra time used and can delay release of your deposit.
Fuel, mileage, fines and tolls
Multi-day rentals include 300 km per day; kilometres driven beyond this are charged at the rate stated in your quote. The car must be returned with the same fuel level it had at handover; if it is not, we charge the missing fuel at cost plus a refuelling service fee. Traffic fines, tolls and parking charges incurred during your rental are your responsibility and are passed on to you together with an administrative fee once they reach us.
Damage, insurance and prohibited use
The insurance described in your quote is included in the rental price. If damage occurs through your fault during the rental, you are liable for the excess stated in that insurance, even though the car itself remains covered. Driving abroad, taking part in track days, or leaving paved roads all require our prior written approval; smoking and travelling with pets are not permitted in any of our cars. Using a car outside these limits, or for any unlawful purpose, is treated as a breach of these terms and may affect your insurance cover and the release of your deposit.
Liability and complaints
Our liability for loss or damage arising from a booking is limited to what is foreseeable and typical for a rental of this kind, and does not extend to indirect losses such as missed appointments or lost business. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under German law, including liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health. If something about your rental has not gone as planned, write to [email protected] with your booking details so we, together with the relevant local partner, can look into it and respond promptly.
Website content, governing law and changes
The content, photographs, fleet descriptions and pricing on sportscarrentalgermany.com are provided to help you enquire about and book a car, and may not be copied or reused for other commercial purposes without our permission. We may update the website and these terms at any time to reflect changes to our fleet, our partners or the law; the version in force when you make your enquiry applies to your booking. These terms, and any booking made under them, are governed by German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Where the customer is a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or has no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, the courts at our place of business in Germany have exclusive jurisdiction; consumers may also bring proceedings before the courts of their own place of residence.
