Swabian Alb. South of the city, the limestone plateau climbs into tight bends and long sightlines around Lichtenstein Castle and Burg Hohenzollern. A car with real steering feedback earns its place here; parking at the viewpoints is limited on clear weekends, so early starts help.

Neckar Valley Vineyards. The river road toward Esslingen and Ludwigsburg runs beneath terraced vineyards and half-timbered wine villages. Traffic thins outside commuter hours, making it a relaxed stretch for a convertible or GT with the roof down.

Black Forest Edge. Further west, the approach to Baiersbronn and Baden-Baden trades city streets for dense forest and slower, forested curves. It suits a car with a compliant ride more than outright top speed, and fuel stops are sparser once past the outskirts.

Lake Constance. A longer run south to Meersburg or Lindau, with open autobahn stretches giving way to lakeside towns and ferry crossings. Worth planning as a full day out rather than a quick loop, given the distance involved.

Zuffenhausen and Untertürkheim. Stuttgart's own automotive districts, home to the Porsche and Mercedes-Benz museums, sit within a short drive of the centre. A natural stop for enthusiasts wanting to see the marques' history before or after collecting their own model.
