Cookie Policy

A cookie is a short piece of data that a website asks your browser to keep. Related techniques achieve much the same result without a classic cookie file, for instance by writing an identifier straight into your browser's local or session storage, where a site can read it again later. Under § 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), placing or reading this kind of information on your device generally requires your consent, unless it is strictly necessary to provide the specific service you asked for, such as loading the page you requested.

sportscarrentalgermany.com sets no cookies of its own and installs no third-party analytics, advertising or social-media trackers. The only measurement we run is a first-party script served from our own domain, which counts visits and tells us how people reach us and which car or location interests them.

This script records the pages viewed, time spent on a page, the referring website, any campaign parameters carried in the link (such as UTM tags or an ad click identifier), device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language, and the country derived from the IP address. The IP address itself is not stored. Two random identifiers, a visitor identifier and a session identifier, are held in local storage for this purpose and expire 30 days after your last visit, as listed above.

When you send an enquiry or tap a WhatsApp or phone link, that action is linked to the same visit so we can see which channel led to it. This helps us understand demand across our five cities without tracking you across other websites.

Beyond the visit-measurement identifiers described above, the site uses two further small entries directly in your browser, listed in the table above: one remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice, and one remembers which of our 91 listed cars you last clicked, so the enquiry form can be prefilled with your start and finish location, dates and chosen car without you retyping them. Neither entry contains your name, email, phone number or any other contact detail; that information only exists once you actually fill in and submit a form.

A small number of resources on the site are loaded from outside providers rather than from our own server. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, the phone-number field in our enquiry forms uses the intl-tel-input library loaded from the jsDelivr content delivery network, and the destinations map on the homepage loads the Leaflet library from unpkg.com together with map tiles, based on OpenStreetMap data, from CARTO. Each of these providers technically receives your IP address when your browser fetches the resource, as is unavoidable with any internet request, but none of them sets a cookie on our behalf.

The WhatsApp buttons on the site behave differently from a cookie or tracker: nothing is sent to WhatsApp, and nothing is set on our site, until you actually click. At the moment of the click, we record the click itself, together with the page URL, the referrer, your browser language and the prefilled message text, in our own booking system, exactly as described for visit measurement above, and your browser then opens WhatsApp. From that point, the conversation takes place on WhatsApp's own platform, operated by Meta, under WhatsApp's own privacy terms, which are outside our control.

You can see, block or delete local and session storage, as well as any cookies, through your browser's settings, usually under a section covering site data or privacy; most current browsers let you do this for sportscarrentalgermany.com specifically, without affecting other sites. Clearing storage simply means the cookie notice may appear again and the visit-measurement identifiers will be regenerated on your next visit.

We review this page as the site evolves. If we ever introduce an optional cookie, for example for marketing purposes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent through a clear banner before anything non-essential is placed on your device.
