Privacy Policy

The controller for all personal data processed through sportscarrentalgermany.com is Sports Car Rental Germany, the brand under which this site and its network of local rental partners operate across our five German cities. For any question about this policy, or to exercise your rights, write to [email protected] — this is also our general contact address for booking questions, so please mention that your message concerns privacy.

We collect personal data in a few straightforward ways:

• Enquiry form — your name, email address, optional phone number, chosen car (if any), start and finish location, pick-up and drop-off dates, flight number if you use the airport-delivery form, your free-text message, and the page URL and referrer that brought you to the form.

• Direct contact — anything you tell us by email, phone or WhatsApp when you reach out about a quote, a booking, chauffeur or wedding hire, or any other request.

• WhatsApp click records — when you tap a WhatsApp button on the site, we log the page URL, referrer, language and the prefilled message text in our booking system before WhatsApp opens, so we can see which page prompted your enquiry. The conversation itself then runs inside WhatsApp, under Meta's own privacy policy, which we do not control.

• Server logs — standard technical records (IP address, time, requested page, browser) kept briefly by our hosting provider to keep the site secure.

• Browser storage — a few small entries on your own device: one remembers that you closed the cookie notice, one temporarily remembers which car you clicked so the enquiry form can be prefilled (deleted when you close the tab or send the form), and one holds random, non-identifying visitor and session identifiers for our own visit measurement, expiring 30 days after your last visit. None of these contain contact details, and the site itself sets no cookies.

We process enquiry and contact data to take the pre-contractual steps you ask for — preparing a quote, checking availability, answering questions about one of our 91 cars — and, once you accept a written quote and we confirm the booking in writing, to perform that rental contract.

We process server logs and visit-measurement data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure, understanding which pages and channels work, and improving the service, without profiling you individually.

Where a booking proceeds, certain data must also be kept to meet our bookkeeping and tax obligations under German law, which is our legal basis for retaining those records.

Access is limited to what each recipient needs:

• Our own team, who read and answer enquiries through an internal messaging tool linked to our booking system.

• The local rental partner in the city you choose, but only once a booking is confirmed and only the details needed to deliver the car, arrange chauffeur or wedding hire, or organise airport delivery.

• Our hosting provider, which serves the static website and keeps short-term technical logs for security.

• A small number of specialist providers whose code runs on the page: Google Fonts (which receives your IP address to serve the site's typefaces), the jsDelivr CDN (which serves the intl-tel-input library used by the phone-number field), and unpkg.com together with CARTO (which serve the Leaflet mapping library and map tiles for the destinations map on our homepage, based on OpenStreetMap data). Each of these sees the visitor's IP address as a technical consequence of loading their resource, but none of them sets cookies on our behalf.

• WhatsApp (operated by Meta), only for conversations you choose to start by tapping a WhatsApp button; that exchange is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy, not this one.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

Once a rental is confirmed in writing, we and the local partner handling your car need to see your driving licence and identity document at the point of handover. This is a pre-contractual and contractual necessity: we must verify that you are entitled to drive the vehicle, confirm your identity against the booking, and meet the checks expected of any rental business before releasing a sports, luxury, convertible, SUV, electric, supercar or minivan rental into your hands.

Our booking system, hosting and internal messaging tool are used to run a German-based business serving our five cities. Some of the third-party resources loaded on the page — Google Fonts, jsDelivr, unpkg.com and CARTO — are operated by providers that may process the IP address outside Germany, including in countries outside the European Economic Area, as part of delivering fonts, scripts and map tiles. Where this happens, it is limited to the technical data needed to load that resource, and WhatsApp conversations are likewise subject to Meta's own international handling of data, as described in WhatsApp's privacy policy.

If your enquiry does not turn into a booking, we delete it after 36 months. If it does, the booking record is kept for as long as German tax and accounting law requires us to retain it. Server logs are kept only briefly for security purposes, and the browser-storage entries described above expire or are removed automatically as noted.

We keep enquiry and booking data in our own booking system and share it internally through a messaging tool rather than open channels, and we limit who can see confirmed-booking details to our team and the relevant local partner. The site itself is a static website, which keeps the technical surface small, and server logs are used only to detect and respond to security issues, never for marketing.

Under the GDPR and the BDSG you may ask us to:

• confirm whether we hold data about you, and access a copy of it;
• correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
• delete data we no longer need, or restrict its use;
• receive certain data in a portable format;
• object to processing based on our legitimate interest, including visit measurement.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We answer within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we don't disclose your data to the wrong person. If you believe our handling of your data is unlawful, you may also lodge a complaint with the competent German state data protection authority for the region in question.

Our service is aimed at adults who are old enough to hold a driving licence, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data to us, we will delete it.

We may update this policy as our site, tools or partners change. The version published on sportscarrentalgermany.com at the time you visit is the one that applies, and we encourage you to check back if you want to stay current.
